Construction

GutterGlove consists of two components: a perforated aluminum channel and stainless steel mesh. The stainless steel mesh is bond-glued into grooves along both widths of each 5 foot aluminum channel section. When installed, each 5 foot section butts up to its neighbor. The seams between each section are covered by an aluminum fastener called a ‘finger’. Each section is installed with three stainless steel screws to the outer lip of the gutter. When the installation is complete, it is a closed system, complete with sealed endcaps. Our patented technology is leading the gutter guard industry in developing a way to filter out everything . . . except water!

Aluminum Channel Frame

Our perforated aluminum channel is anodized to further protect itself from the environment. The specific alloy number of the aluminum we use is confidential.

The anodizing process converts the aluminum surface into an extremely hard, durable, corrosion-resistant, long-lasting aluminum oxide finish. Also, anodizing responds favorably to current governmental regulations, because it is one of the most environment-friendly industrial processes. Since this process is a reinforcement of a naturally-occurring oxide process, it is non-hazardous and produces no harmful or dangerous by-products. No other gutter guard in the world anodizes their gutter guard, especially because of the added cost.

Anodized aluminum is used around the world as the highly-durable exterior material in commercial buildings, including the Sears Tower in Chicago, Illinois. Other revolutionary uses include the fabrication of scientific instruments, home appliances, for harsh environmental protection on space satellites, and staircases in skyscrapers.

Stainless Steel Mesh

The super-strong 316L stainless steel mesh allows up to 200 inches of hourly rainfall to pass through to the gutter, as shown on our simulated water displays at Home & Garden Shows. Of course there has never been this much recorded rainfall, except for maybe in the days of Noah. Type 316L stainless steel performs without evidence of corrosion in the 100 hour, 5% salt spray test (ASTM-B-117).

Type 316L is molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel, which is more resistant to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than the conventional chromium nickel austenitic stainless steels (types 302 and 304), and other standard stainless steel alloys. 316L alloy offers higher creep, better stress-to-rupture ratio, and stronger tensile strength at elevated temperature. Also, it resists attack of marine and corrosive industrial atmospheres, which makes it an ideal component for GutterGlove. 316L is widely used in the food, marine and medical industries.
